Spinning in India
Indian traditional spinning using a “charkha” – a hand-operated spinning wheel. After spinning, the yarn is braided into skeins; the skeins can be put into bobbins or just tied. The ready yarn is used for weaving.

Spinning sheep wool into yarn by hand. Here’s a Turkish spindle used to make this ball of fine yarn. The wool fibers you see here are different – the yarn spun from this wool will be coarser and thicker.
