In this period jewelry in Europe were usually made from metal, glass, seashells, coins, and gems. But don’t think they were simple and not worthy. Some craftsmen were able to produce stunning silver and gold jewelry that could take your breath away. Archeologists have found some priceless pieces. But even ordinary decorations of wealthy women in the 9th-10th centuries were beautiful. Though, people didn’t have much taste in using jewelry; they just put nice items on, whether they matched each other or not.
Here are some examples of jewelry used in the 9th-10th centuries in Europe and Asia. These are reconstructions, but very accurate ones. The first 3 of them were used in the Kievan Rus’ (modern Ukraine), and the last one in Alania (modern Russia).
