Saudi Arabian people keep their traditions. They use the traditional men’s thawb (ankle-long shirt) and bisht (long cloak), and women’s abaya (black outer cloak) in day-to-day life. But modern abaya, for example, can be very beautiful and festive. Of course, it is traditionally black, but often it is also embellished with colorful embroidery, beadwork, and similar decorations. As Saudi Arabian people are rather wealthy, many women are able to show their status even in such a modest garment as abaya.

Here is an example. Two Arab women are having breakfast. The woman at the left is wearing the traditional clothing and the woman at the right is wearing a modern variant of abaya (it is a scene from the movie "Sex and the City 2").
