The embroidering tradition in Palestine is very old and developed. A century ago, Palestinian women used to make all of their clothing at home. Most of the garments were decorated with embroidery. Girls started to learn the craft of embroidery since 7 years old. Nowadays, of course, people don’t have to make outfits themselves, but many women still keep the tradition of hand embroidering their clothing.
Palestine, like many countries of the world, uses the technique of embroidering called “cross-stitch”. The embroidery of this country is very similar to a Slavic one. Here is a sample of Palestinian traditional girl's dress with colorful floral embroidery.
