Authentic groom’s costume from Hutsul area (Carpathian region of Ukraine), 1931. This shirt is even signed by the name of its owner and the year (we’re not sure, but it must be the year of the wedding). You can also see a red kerchief tied around the sleeve – it is an obligatory accessory of a groom.
Vintage bride’s outfit from Ivano-Frankivsk region (western Ukraine), late 19th – early 20th century. The headdress is called “chiltse” and it is a modern replica of the local bridal headwear. The headgear and necklace are modern replicas, while the clothing pieces are authentic. You can see beautifully embellished embroidered shirt and sheepskin vest.
Groom’s wedding costume from Chernivtsi region of Ukraine (the area is called “Bukovyna”. It is a south-western part of Ukraine). The first half of the 20th century. This outfit is rather minimalist and elegant. You can see a flower buttonhole attached to a sheepskin vest
Ukrainian traditional wedding dress from Volyn’ region (western part of Ukraine). The fabric of these garments is very special – it is so thin that is transparent. Such ultra-thin linen fabric is typical for this particular area. BTW, this clothing was the only one in Ukraine that needed an undershirt because of its transparency. The snow-white bridal wreath is a replica of a vintage piece – it looks so delicate and pure!
